Tuesday, May 26 11am-2pm: “Ability First!” Gathering: An Employment for Persons with Disabilities Event: Powell River Recreation Complex’s Cedar Room (upper level). FREE and open to all! The “Ability First!” Gathering is sponsored by The Powell River Measuring Up Committee for Access and Inclusion (www.powellriver.wordpress.com) and the City of Powell River, through a grant from The Vancouver Foundation. This free lunchtime event (light fare provided) will include several speakers on: The use of ‘Plain Language’ in the workplace, incentives & assistance to businesses that hire people with disabilities, local success stories & opportunities for persons with visible or invisible disabilities to start their own business or pursue higher education goals.
